MiScholarship Program

Each year MIGAS offers a scholarship program exclusively for our apprentices and trainees.

It’s all about investing in our employees’ career success.

MiScholarship applications are open nationally to all current and recently completed apprentices and trainees employed by MIGAS.

The program is designed to provide financial assistance to the most deserving applicants who have demonstrated exceptional performance on-the-job or have overcome significant personal barriers to pursue their apprenticeship training.

MiScholarship FAQ

  • How do I apply for a scholarship?
    +

Firstly, review the Scholarship categories outlined above. Think about your own personal circumstances and what you have been able to achieve in your current placement.

Application forms will be published in September 2025 for the next scholarship round.

We suggest connecting with your Field Officer first to discuss. They will be able to assist you with your application if required. Take on board any feedback they may have with your written submission before submitting.

Final shortlisting will take place in November/December 2025. Shortlisted applicants will participate in a short online interview with the MiScholarship selection panel in December 2025.

The final selection of scholarship recipients will be announced during National Apprenticeship Week in February 2026.

  • Who can apply for a MIGAS scholarship?
    +

The MiScholarship Program is open to any apprentice or trainee employed by MIGAS who is currently undertaking their placement (including suspended).

These scholarships are not available to non-MIGAS apprentices and trainees.

  • Can I apply for more than one MiScholarship category?
    +

No. Please apply for the MiScholarship category that you feel is most appropriate to you.

The MiScholarship selection panel may consider your application for a different category at its discretion.

  • I'm a Host Employer - can I nominate my apprentice or trainee?
    +

Host Employers are asked to encourage their MIGAS apprentices and trainees to submit an application for a scholarship where applicable.

You may be asked to provide a written statement to supplement the application, which is where you can express your support and provide feedback on their performance and how the apprentice or trainee meets the selection criteria.

  • How are the MiScholarship recipients selected?
    +

MiScholarships will be awarded with consideration to a range of factors including:

    • Achievements during their apprenticeship or traineeship
    • Host employer feedback
    • Training results
    • Financial need
    • Conduct throughout the employment period
    • Extracurricular activities or community work

Overcoming challenges such as financial and personal hardships and/or distance to secure an apprenticeship will also be considered in all categories.

MiScholarships will be awarded on the merit of each application.

  • What does the application process involve?
    +

Apprentices and trainees will submit an application that includes short answer questions.

Shortlisted candidates will be asked to participant in a short online interview with the MiScholarship selection panel.

  • I previously received a MiScholarship, can I apply again this year?
    +

Recipients of the 2024 MiScholarships are unable to apply again this year.

However, if you applied before but did not receive a scholarship or were a previous recipient prior to 2024, you may apply again in 2025.
