Women in Trades Engineering Pathways Traineeship
The Opportunity
This 12-week paid Women in Trades: Engineering Traineeship is designed for women who are currently out of work and seeking employment in an engineering-focused apprenticeship.
Completing this program will equip participants with foundational trade skills for a future career in engineering trades.
In the first two weeks of the program, female participants will begin their Certificate I in Engineering with program partners, InTech Institute of Technology. Following this, the weekly schedule will consist of three days of training at InTech and two days of hands-on work experience with a MIGAS Host Employer.
Program Inclusions
- No program costs
- PPE will be provided
- A pathway to a future engineering career
- Certificate I in Engineering - Fabrication Trade (over 3 weeks) including the following units:
- Use hand tools
- Automatic Robotic Cutting
- TIG Welding
- Basic drawings, design and 3D printing using Fusion 360
- Undertake manual handling
- Perform routine manual metal arc welding
- Carry out mechanical cutting
- Organise and communicate information
- Use power tools/handheld operations
- Work safely and effectively in manufacturing and engineering
- Participate in environmentally sustainable work practices
- Supportive environment: Access workshops and career coaching tailored to help women succeed in trades
- Work experience
- On completion, participants will be interviewed by the MIGAS Recruitment Team for possible employment opportunities.

Who Should Apply?
- Applications are open to women who have completed school, are currently unemployed, and are motivated to commence an engineering apprenticeship
- Women seeking an entry point into an apprenticeship who are eager to learn, develop new skills, and possess a motivated, positive attitude, including those who have been unsuccessful in previous apprenticeship applications
This program is funded by the Department of Employment, Small Business and Training.
